QuiltingB's Quilting Patterns - Providence Block

Although I could provide templates for the various pieces, I have decided instead to provide size measurements and cutting instructions. This is because of the differences in computer screen resulutions and printer settings. By providing these measurments and cutting instructions, you can be sure that your pieces will be the proper size and scale. If you prefer to use templates, simply follow these measurement instructions, cutting out pieces of paper and transfer that to template plastic.

1. Cut the pieces.

From background fabric (white) cut the following:

  1. 2 7/8 X 2 7/8 inch square--cut 8. These are your A squares.
  2. 3 1/4 X 3 1/4 inch square--cut 4, then cut each diagonally to make 2 triangles, for a total of 8. These are your B triangles.
  3. 3 5/8 X 3 5/8 inch square--cut 2. Cut into quarters along the diagonals, as illustrated below; these are your 8 C triangles.

From red fabric, cut:

  1. 2 7/8 X 2 7/8 inch square--cut 4. These are your A squares.
  2. 3 5/8 X 3 5/8 inch square--cut 1. Cut into quarters along the diagonals, as illustrated above; these are your 4 C triangles.

From the dark blue fabric, cut:

  2. 3 1/4 X 3 1/4 inch square--cut 4, then cut each diagonally to make 2 triangles, for a total of 8. These are your B triangles

From the light blue fabric, cut:

  1. 3 5/8 X 3 5/8 inch square--cut 1. Cut into quarters along the diagonals, as illustrated above; these are your 4 C triangles.
These colors are just for illustration--use any colors you like.

3. Sew the C triangles into squares, as shown.

4. Sew into strips and arrange as shown.
