Apple Wheat Bread
Ingredients:
- 1 tablespoon active dry yeast OR 2 packages
- 2 ½ cup warm water (115°)
- ½ cup brown sugar
- 2 cups warm (115°) milk
- 1 tablespoon salt
- 4 tablespoon oil
- 9½-10½ cup BREAD flour
- 2½ cups whole wheat BREAD flour
- 2 large apples, shreaded
Directions:
- Sprinkle yeast over 1 cup of the warm water. Add 2 tsp sugar. Let stand 5 minutes
- Stir in remaining water, milk, sugar, salt, oil
- Add 7 cups flour. Mix to blend. Beat at medium speed until smooth & elastic, about 5 minutes
- Stir in Whole Wheat flour and shreaded apple a bit at a time, alternating, continue mixing
- Stir in about 1½ cut more flour
- Turn dough out onto floured surface. Knead 12-15 minutes, adding more bread flour if necessary
- Turn into large greased bowl, covering with oil. Cover and let rise until doubled, about 1 hour
- Punch down, divide into 4 equal sections. Fold and shape each section and place in 4 5x9 loaf pans
- Let rise until almost doubled, about 40-45 minutes
- PREHEAT oven to 350°. Bake 40-45 minutes, until crust is crusty and bread sounds done when tapped
